Leiden Game Night x Midi at PLNT

What will you do?

Midi provides a collection of board and card games, supported by local game shop De Vliegershop. Choose a game at the venue, invite other visitors to join or bring a favourite game of your own. The atmosphere is social and informal: you do not need to arrive with a complete group, and attending on your own is entirely normal.

The Leiden Board Game Design Meetup takes place during the same evening. You can try prototypes from game designers, provide feedback and see how games develop. You do not need to be a designer to participate.

Who will enjoy this game night?

It suits board-game and card-game enthusiasts, internationals, students, new residents and solo visitors who want an easy way to meet people. Game designers and visitors interested in testing new or unreleased games receive an additional reason to attend.

It is less suitable when you only want a very short activity or prefer not to stay out late. You can leave earlier, but longer games and getting to know a table often take some time.

Is it worth attending?

Yes, particularly for solo visitors and board-game enthusiasts. Admission is free, a game collection is already available and you do not need to organise a complete group. This makes the evening much more accessible than arranging a private game night. The prototype testing also distinguishes it from an ordinary café evening.

Drinks and snacks are not free. The organiser asks visitors to support Midi by ordering from its menu.

Practical tips

• Arrive between 19:30 and 20:00 when possible so someone can easily let you inside.
• Do not hesitate to attend alone; joining other players is part of the format.
• Bring a favourite game when you would enjoy teaching it to others.
• For a first visit, choose a game with a manageable playing time.
• Order a drink or snack to support Midi as the host venue.
• When arriving after 20:00, check the latest Meetup or WhatsApp instructions.

Venue and transport

Midi is inside the PLNT building at Langegracht 70. It is roughly a fifteen-minute walk from Leiden Central station. The Dirk Langegracht car park is nearby, although walking or cycling is usually simpler for this central location.
