Quick choice: where should you park?

For the historic centre, Lammermarkt and Garenmarkt are usually the most convenient options. Morspoort is slightly cheaper without a reservation and works well for the western side of the centre. For a full day, also compare Haagweg, Level Leiden and a pre-booked day ticket for the three municipal central garages.

This car park is south of the centre and is mainly useful for the Lammenschans triangle and Ananasweg area.

13. Haarlemmerstraat car park — temporarily closedMiddelstegracht 50, 2312 KP Leiden. The 275-space garage is closed to incoming traffic indefinitely due to damage and renovation work. Use Garenmarkt, Lammermarkt or an authorised short-stay location instead. Height limit: 1.95 metres.

Discounted city-centre parking

You can reserve Lammermarkt, Garenmarkt and Morspoort in advance. The official Discover Leiden ticket costs €12.50 for parking between 10:00 and 17:00. The Leiden evening ticket also costs €12.50 for 17:00 to 00:00. A full day costs €16.65 in advance and multiple days cost €16.65 per day. Reservation is not compulsory, but discounted availability is limited and your number plate must be recognised within the selected times.

Street parking in Leiden

Most of the city centre is reserved for permit holders. Eight short-stay locations in zone A allow parking for up to two hours. The rate is €4.00 per hour with a €0.20 minimum. Short-stay charging hours are Monday to Saturday 09:00–21:00 and Sunday 13:00–21:00. Regular parking in zones B and C costs €3.10 per hour; at designated short-stay spaces the first two hours each cost €0.20, followed by €3.10 per hour from the third hour. Always check the meter and official map because a space outside a short-stay location may be permit-only.

Accessible parking

Lammermarkt, Garenmarkt, Morspoort, Naturalis, Ehrenfestweg, Rijnveste and Ringkade list designated accessible spaces. Also check the height limit and route from the pedestrian exit. Haagweg has accessible spaces, but visitors depending on adapted transport should call ahead to confirm whether the shuttle is suitable at that time.

What is the best car park for Leiden city centre?

Lammermarkt is most convenient for the northern centre, Museum De Lakenhal and Beestenmarkt. Garenmarkt is better for Breestraat, Pieterskerk and Rapenburg. Pre-book if you are staying several hours.

Where is the cheapest full-day parking in Leiden?

De Ananas lists a €15 daily maximum but is south of the centre. Level offers online spaces from €15. For the historic centre, a pre-booked day ticket at Lammermarkt, Garenmarkt or Morspoort costs €16.65.

Do you need to reserve parking in Leiden?

No. Lammermarkt, Garenmarkt and Morspoort are also accessible without a reservation. Booking ahead does provide a discount and, according to the municipality, guarantees a space within your selected time window.

Can you park on the street in Leiden city centre?

Only at designated short-stay locations without a permit. Zone A has eight such locations, with a two-hour maximum and a €4 hourly rate during the stated charging hours. Most other central spaces are permit-only.

Is Haarlemmerstraat car park open?

No. As of 24 July 2026, the garage is listed as closed indefinitely due to damage and renovation work. Use Lammermarkt, Garenmarkt or another open location.
